Founded by Ernest Daltroff—an exceptionally intuitive, self-taught perfumer—and his muse, the brilliant artistic director Félicie Wanpouille, the brand represents a magnificent collision of worlds. Together, they rejected the stylistic conformities of their era, building a fragrance house rooted in duality, plurality, and the masterful art of contrasts.

Their partnership resulted in some of the 20th century's most innovative and beloved perfumes. When Daltroff was forced to flee to America to escape persecution during World War II, Wanpouille fiercely protected the house, ensuring its survival and continued legacy. Today, under the stewardship of the Rothschild family's Cattleya Finance, CARON continues to freely orchestrate the encounter of marvelous, raw materials, revealing their mysterious depths and sumptuous richness.
