Rochas
Founded in 1925 by the visionary Marcel Rochas at the young age of 23, the House of Rochas began as a pioneering force in Parisian haute couture. Operating out of Place Beauvau and later Avenue Matignon, the couturier built a timeless wardrobe for the emancipated post-war woman, famously operating under the ethos of "elegance, simplicity and youth". His creations celebrated clean lines and the beautiful drape of garments, liberating women's bodies with 3/4 coats, square shoulders, and the iconic mermaid evening gown.
This sophisticated, architectural vision seamlessly extended into the realm of luxury fragrance, treating perfumes as true masterpieces. When Marcel met his muse and future wife, Hélène, their profound love story inspired the creation of Femme in 1944. Viewed as a masterpiece of perfumery, this legendary scent was housed in an amphora-shaped crystal bottle signed by René and Marc Lalique.
Following Marcel's passing in 1955, Hélène Rochas took the helm, becoming one of the first women in France to head a company. Under her extraordinary leadership, Rochas transformed into a premier luxury perfume brand. Today, the house remains a custodian of French elegance, merging its rich, Art Déco-inspired roots with a modern, unapologetic approach to fine fragrance.
